A more legitimate complaint is the sound an aerosol can makes when you spray it. It wouldn't be the end of the world but you wouldn't really want one blowing up in a combat situation. Seriously, though, an aerosol can is heavier for what it contains and is at a potentially dangerous pressure. So you can bring medi-gel on an airplane, but not biofoam. It's usually carried and dispensed by a combat hardsuit but there are dispensers and containers in civilian and non-combat settings. In regards to deployment, biofoam appears to come in an aerosol can versus medi-gel, which appears to be supplied as a, well, gel.
